President Trump Proclaims Patriot Day 2026
All U.S. federal departments, agencies and instrumentalities must fly the flag at half-staff on September 11, 2026.
Proclamation 11066, issued on September 9, 2026 and published in Federal Register Vol. 91, No. 177 on September 15, 2026, designates September 11, 2026 as Patriot Day, 2026. The President, Donald J. Trump, calls upon all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States to display the Flag of the United States at half-staff in honor of the 2,977 victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The proclamation also invites the Governors of the United States and its Territories, as well as interested organizations and individuals, to join in the observance. By a joint resolution approved December 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), Congress designated September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day."
The notice reiterates the solemn remembrance of the 2,977 innocent lives lost and the ongoing sacrifices of first responders and armed-force members who continue to bear the health impacts of their service. The President emphasizes the need to keep the memory of the attacks alive for future generations.
The proclamation was signed on the ninth day of September, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.
