Cboe BZX adopts generic listing standards for crypto trust options and ETFs
The rule change binds Cboe BZX-listed options, covering commodity-based trusts with multiple crypto assets and 6c-11 ETFs, effective Sept. 29, 2026.

On September 29, 2026, Cboe BZX Exchange, Inc. filed a non-controversial proposed rule change with the Securities and Exchange Commission (Release No. 34-106648; File No. SR-CboeBZX-2026-082). The notice, published in the Federal Register on October 13, 2026 (FR Doc No. 2026-21128), announces immediate effectiveness of the filing.
The amendment to Rule 19.3(i)(5) establishes generic listing criteria for options on commodity-based trusts that hold multiple crypto assets. Each underlying crypto asset must have an average daily market value of at least $700 million over the prior 12 months and must underlie a derivatives contract that trades on a market subject to a comprehensive surveillance-sharing agreement with the Exchange, either directly or through the Intermarket Surveillance Group.
Rule 19.3(i)(1) is updated to permit the listing of options on exchange-traded funds as defined in Rule 6c-11 of the Investment Company Act of 1940, as well as portfolio depositary receipts and index fund shares. The language removes product-specific references and aligns the options listing standards with the generic ETF listing standards established under Rule 6c-11.
Conforming amendments will also remove individual product-specific references and update cross-references throughout the rules. The proposed language mirrors the criteria already adopted by Cboe Options for similar products.
The Commission is soliciting comments from interested persons on the proposed rule change, which was filed under Section 19(b)(1) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 19b-4.
