FDIC seeks comments on renewal of two information collections
Insured state nonmember banks, savings associations and their agents must respond by Oct. 8, 2026

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation published FR Doc 2026-18258 on September 3, 2026, proposing renewal of two OMB-approved information collections, OMB 3064-0140 and OMB 3064-0176. The notice opens a 30-day comment period that ends on October 8, 2026.
The first collection, titled "Insurance Sales Consumer Protections," applies to insured state nonmember banks and savings associations that sell insurance products and to persons who sell insurance on their behalf. The burden estimate lists 934 respondents, each providing one response of an average five minutes, for a total annual burden of 4,670 hours. The agency notes the estimate reflects a reduction of 835 hours from the 5,505-hour estimate in 2023, attributable to a lower number of respondents.
The second collection, "Reverse Mortgage Products," covers insured state nonmember banks and state savings associations that make reverse mortgages. It includes two record-keeping obligations: an implementation task for five respondents at 40 minutes each (200 hours) and an ongoing task for 18 respondents at eight minutes each (144 hours), for a combined annual burden of 344 hours. The FDIC reports this is an increase of 64 hours from the 280-hour estimate in 2024, driven by a rise in respondents for the implementation task.
The agency invites comments on the necessity, utility, accuracy of burden estimates, and potential ways to reduce respondent workload, including automated collection techniques. Submissions may be made via the FDIC website, email, mail to Robert Meiers, Regulatory Attorney, or hand-delivery to the agency's guard station, and must be entered in the RegInfo system.
The prior notice published on July 2, 2026 received no comments during its 60-day comment period.
