The Internal Revenue Service announced an extension of the information collection identified by OMB Control No. 1545-1757, titled Disclosure of Returns and Return Information by Other Agencies. The notice states there is no change to the previously approved collection.

Under Internal Revenue Code section 6103, the IRS may authorize agencies with access to returns and return information to re-disclose that information based on a written request and the Commissioner's approval, to any authorized recipient set forth in the same section, subject to identical conditions and purposes as a direct IRS disclosure.

The agency seeks comments on the collection's necessity, burden accuracy, quality, clarity, and cost estimates. Written comments must be received on or before November 2, 2026 and should be directed to Andres Garcia, IRS, Room 6526, 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20224, or emailed with "OMB Control No. 1545-1757" in the subject line.

The notice estimates six responses, each requiring about one hour, for a total annual burden of six hours. Commenters are asked to address capital or start-up costs and costs of operation, maintenance, and purchase of services to provide the information.
