Cboe EDGX raises on-exchange options regulatory fee to $0.00286 per side
The fee increase, effective July 1 2026, applies to on-exchange customer-range options cleared by OCC and affects all EDGX members.

On August 13, 2026 Cboe EDGX Exchange, Inc. filed a proposed rule change (File No. SR-CboeEDGX-2026-053; Release No. 34-106190) to amend its Options Regulatory Fee (ORF). The filing, published in the Federal Register on August 26, 2026, seeks comment on the amendment, which is immediately effective for filing purposes.
The amendment raises the ORF from $0.0002 to $0.00286 per contract side and limits assessment to options transactions that execute on the EDGX exchange and clear in the customer range at the Options Clearing Corporation. The new methodology, adopted on December 2, 2025, becomes effective July 1, 2026. Under the proposal, the OCC will continue to collect the fee on behalf of the exchange from the clearing member that cleared the transaction.
The exchange explains that ORF revenue, combined with other regulatory fees and fines, is intended to recover a material portion of its regulatory costs, which it estimates at roughly 65% direct and 35% indirect expenses for 2026. The exchange also notes its practice of keeping ORF revenue below 75% of total regulatory costs and will monitor revenues semi-annually, adjusting the fee if necessary.
In addition to the fee increase, the exchange proposes nonsubstantive revisions to its fees schedule: clarifying the description of ORF, deleting outdated language about routing-broker reimbursements, and removing provisions requiring members to submit OCC clearing numbers, which the exchange now receives daily from the OCC.
The exchange cites Section 6(b)(4) and (5) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 as the statutory basis for the amendment, asserting that the change equitably allocates reasonable fees among members and does not create unfair discrimination.
