IRS Announces Open Virtual Meeting of Taxpayer Advocacy Panel Joint Committee
The Taxpayer Advocacy Panel invites the public to attend the virtual meeting on September 16, 2026, to discuss IRS customer-service improvements.

The Internal Revenue Service issued a notice that an open meeting of the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel's Joint Committee will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The notice cites authority under Section 10(a)(2) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act, 5 U.S.C. App. (1988).
The meeting will be conducted as a virtual video conference using the Microsoft Teams platform. The public may attend either via video or by phone and may provide oral comments or submit written statements for consideration. Because of meeting structure and time limitations, advance registration is required; registrants must contact Fred N. Smith, Jr. no later than Friday, September 11, 2026, to receive access information.
Meeting materials, including the agenda and any handouts, will be posted in advance at www.improveirs.org. The agenda will include a committee discussion of new and continuing issues and other activities related to the new Taxpayer Advocacy Panel year.
