OCC and FDIC Correct Docket Number for Unsafe Practice Rule
The correction, filed Sep. 21, 2026, amends the final rule effective Nov. 2, 2026, and applies to all OCC- and FDIC-supervised institutions.
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation issued a correction on Sep. 22, 2026 to the final rule published Sep. 1, 2026 that defines "unsafe or unsound practice" under section 8 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act and revises the supervisory framework for matters requiring attention. The correction fixes an agency docket number error in the original notice.
The notice states that on page 56004, second column, of FR Doc. 2026-17823, the OCC's agency heading should read Docket ID OCC-2025-0174. The original publication listed an incorrect docket number.
The rule's effective date remains Nov. 2, 2026, and it governs all national banks and federal savings associations subject to OCC and FDIC supervision.
