President orders U.S. flag at half-staff in memory of Dolly Parton
All federal facilities, domestic and abroad, must fly the flag at half-staff through sunset Sept. 1, 2026
The President issued Proclamation 11057 on August 25, 2026, directing that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for the memory of Dolly Parton.
The order applies to the White House and all public buildings and grounds, to all military posts and naval stations, and to all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its territories and possessions.
It also extends to all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations overseas.
The proclamation is filed as FR Doc 2026-17716, filed on August 27, 2026, at 11:15 a.m., and bears the President's signature dated the twenty-fifth day of August, 2026.
The half-staff requirement remains in effect until sunset on September 1, 2026, after which normal flag protocol resumes.
