SEC extends deadline for NYSE American rule change on FLEX options
The SEC gave NYSE American until Oct. 5, 2026 to act on its proposal to permit cash settlement of up to 50 non-ETF FLEX options.

On June 29, 2026, NYSE American LLC filed a proposed rule change (File No. SR-NYSEAMER-2026-54) to amend Rules 903G and 906G. The filing was made pursuant to Section 19(b)(1) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 19b-4.
The Commission originally had 45 days from the notice publication on July 7, 2026 to act, making August 21, 2026 the deadline. Under Section 19(b)(2) of the Act, the Commission may designate a longer period of up to 90 days, which it has now done, setting October 5, 2026 as the new date by which it will approve, disapprove, or commence proceedings to determine disapproval of the proposal.
The proposed amendment would, among other changes, permit cash settlement for up to 50 non-ETF Flexible Exchange (FLEX) options. The notice of the proposed rule change was published for comment in the Federal Register on July 7, 2026, and the Commission received no comments.
The Commission found that a longer period was appropriate to consider the proposed rule change and the issues raised therein, and exercised its delegated authority under 17 CFR 200.30-3(a)(31) to make the designation.
The designation is effective immediately, and the Commission will take action on the proposal by the October 5, 2026 deadline.
