SEC Moves to Deregister Daxor Corp as Investment Company
Daxor Corp will lose its Investment Company Act registration unless a hearing is requested by 5:30 p.m. ET on Sep 29 2026.

The Securities and Exchange Commission issued a notice (Investment Company Act Release No. 36320; File No. 811-22684) on September 4 2026 stating that it will issue an order declaring Daxor Corporation has ceased to be an investment company, unless a hearing is ordered. The order will become effective upon issuance.
Daxor filed its original deregistration application on February 9 2026 and amended it on May 21 2026, June 17 2026, and September 4 2026. The company, originally incorporated in New York as Iatric Corporation in May 1971 and renamed Daxor in May 1973, now operates as a radiopharmaceutical and medical-device manufacturer selling Volumex Test Kits and the BVA Companion Analyzer. It reported that investment securities fell to approximately 3.11 % of total assets on December 31 2024 and 1.10 % on June 30 2025, and that it held no investment securities as of December 31 2025.
Any interested party may request a hearing by emailing the SEC's Secretary and serving Daxor with a copy of the request. Requests must be received by 5:30 p.m., Eastern time, on September 29 2026, and must include proof of service. Notifications of a hearing may also be requested by email. The applicant's contacts are Robert J. Michel, 107 Meco Lane, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, and counsel Peter D. Fetzer, Foley & Lardner LLP, 777 East Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
The Commission cites Section 8(f) of the Investment Company Act, which permits deregistration when a company no longer meets the definition of an investment company under Sections 3(a)(1)(A) and 3(a)(1)(C). Daxor argues it now meets the exemption under Rule 3a-1 because no more than 45 % of its assets are investment securities and it is primarily engaged in its medical-device business.
Daxor confirmed it will remain subject to the reporting requirements of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, with its common stock trading on Nasdaq under the symbol DXR. As of May 19 2025, the company's authorized common shares total 10,000,000.
