Treasury Extends NMTC Allocation Reporting Requirements
Not-for-profit, for-profit entities and state, local, tribal governments must continue AQEI reporting; comments due Nov 19 2026

The Department of the Treasury's Departmental Offices announced that it will submit an information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget for the New Markets Tax Credit Program (NMTC) Allocation and Qualified Equity Investment Tracking System (AQEI). The notice, published on October 20 2026 (FR Doc 2026-21455), seeks an extension without change of the currently approved collection.
The Allocation Agreement obligates each allocatee to use the electronic AQEI system to report information related to its receipt of a Qualified Equity Investment. The collection applies to not-for-profit institutions, businesses or other for-profit institutions, and State, Local and Tribal governments.
The request carries OMB Control Number 1559-0024. Treasury estimates 202 respondents will generate 1,010 annual responses, each taking about 1.7 hours, for a total annual burden of 1,717 hours. Comments must be received on or before November 19 2026 and should be submitted through www.reginfo.gov under the "Currently under 30-day Review - Open for Public Comments" section.
Copies of the submission are available from Spencer W. Clark by email, phone (202) 927-5331, or via the RegInfo website.
