Treasury seeks OMB clearance for two information collection extensions
Individuals and households must comment by Oct. 1, 2026 on extensions affecting survivor bond payments and savings-bond reissuance.
The Department of the Treasury will submit two information collection requests to the Office of Management and Budget for review and clearance in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, on or after the date of publication of this notice. The public is invited to submit comments on these requests, with comments due on or before Oct. 1, 2026.
The first request, titled "Application by Survivors for Payment of Bond or Check Issued Under Armed Forces Leave Act of 1946," carries OMB Control Number 1530-0038 and is an extension of a currently approved collection. It uses FS Form 2066, targets individuals or households, estimates 100 respondents on an occasional basis, and anticipates a 30-minute response time per respondent, totaling 50 burden hours annually.
The second request, "Request to Reissue U.S. Savings Bonds to a Personal Trust," carries OMB Control Number 1530-0036 and also extends an existing collection. It employs FS Form 1851, affects individuals or households, estimates 10,600 respondents on an occasional basis, with a 15-minute response time per respondent, resulting in 2,650 burden hours annually. The authority cited is 44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.
