Cboe EDGX amends rules on unpriced orders and day-order expiration
The amendment binds all Cboe EDGX market participants, taking effect in December 2026.

On October 13, 2026, Cboe EDGX Exchange, Inc. filed a non-controversial proposed rule change (Release No. 34-106683; File No. SR-CboeEDGX-2026-071) with the SEC. The notice of filing was published in the Federal Register on October 16, 2026 (FR Doc No: 2026-21481, Volume 91, Number 202, pages 66596-66599) to solicit public comment.
The proposal adds a sentence to Rule 11.1(a)(3) stating that "Orders without a limit price will not be eligible for execution outside of Regular Trading Hours." This clarification eliminates ambiguity about the eligibility of market and other unpriced orders during the Overnight and Pre-Opening sessions.
A second amendment revises Rule 11.6(q)(2) to replace the phrase "following trading day" with "same business day to which the Overnight Trading Session belongs, as provided in Rule 11.1(b)." The change ties the expiration of Day Orders entered during the Order Acceptance Queueing Time or Overnight Trading Session to the business day of that session, removing potential confusion over midnight entries.
Both amendments are slated to become operative in December 2026, concurrent with the Exchange's 23-hour-per-day, five-day-per-week trading framework. The Exchange indicated that its Equity Data Plans are prepared to support continuous quotation and transaction dissemination during the new Overnight Trading Session.
