OFAC removes five Ethiopia sanctions designations
Two individuals and three entities previously blocked under Ethiopia sanctions are delisted effective September 18 2026.
On September 18, 2026, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a notice removing from the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN List) the names of persons whose property had been blocked pursuant to Ethiopia sanctions authorities (FR Doc 2026-19415).
The removal follows the expiration of the national emergency declared in Executive Order 14046 of September 17, 2021, which was not continued beyond September 17, 2026. Consequently, the individuals and entities listed below, whose property was blocked solely under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, are no longer subject to U.S. blocking measures.
The notice lists the following individuals: Abraha Kassa Nemariam (DOB 15 Jul 1953, Eritrean passport D000294) and Hagos Ghebrehiwet W Kidan (DOB 25 Apr 1953, Eritrean National ID No. 0882109). The entities listed are Eritrean Defense Forces, Hidri Trust, People's Front for Democracy and Justice, and Red Sea Trading Corporation.
