President Donald J. Trump issued Proclamation 11075 on October 22, 2026, formally designating October 2026 as National Seafood Month. The proclamation appears in the Federal Register, Volume 91, Number 207, pages 68005-68006, and is filed as FR Doc 2026-22050.

The President highlighted that the American seafood industry harvests nearly 8.5 billion pounds of food annually, sustains more than a million jobs, and generates more than $173 billion in commerce. He framed food security as national security and emphasized the sector's role in the nation's economic strength.

In the same document, the President referenced several recent actions: an Executive Order to restore American seafood competitiveness, the launch of the Department of Agriculture Office of Seafood, and three proclamations that restored commercial fishing access to nearly 5,000 square miles in the Atlantic Ocean and to hundreds of thousands of square miles in the Pacific. He also noted the largest single-year quota increase in the Atlantic bluefin tuna fishery, a 1,200 percent quota increase for Atlantic mackerel, and the revival of the West Coast salmon season to a full commercial fishery after three years. Additionally, $123.6 million in fishery disaster assistance was allocated to support affected communities.

The proclamation concludes by urging all Americans to "express their thanks for the American citizens who sustain this crucial industry" and to mark the month with appropriate events and ceremonies.
