SEC Sets Agenda for 24-Hour Trading Roundtable

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced the agenda and panelists for its roundtable on preparations for 24-hour trading, scheduled for Sept. 17, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET at the agency's headquarters at 100 F Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. The event will be open to the public, with in-person registration required and a live webcast available on the SEC website.

Opening remarks by the SEC Chairman, Commissioners and Jamie Selway, Director of the Division of Trading and Markets, will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a data presentation at 10:30 a.m. from the Division's Office of Analytics and Research, presented by Dan Mathisson.

Panel One, convening at 11 a.m., will examine exchange and broker-dealer readiness, overnight surveillance, closing-price processes, clearance and settlement changes, and investor-protection practices. Moderators Jon Kroeper and Katie Kolchin will lead a panel that includes Matt Billings (Robinhood), Josh Burch (NYSE), Hubert De Jesus (BlackRock), JD Del Raso (Virtu Financial), Heidi Fischer (Cboe), Ron Hooey (BNY Pershing), Todd Lopez (UBS), Robert McNamee (FINRA) and Jason Wallach (Bruce Markets).

Panel Two, at 1:15 p.m., will address operational resiliency, Regulation SCI considerations, failover planning, market-data continuity, shortened maintenance windows, cybersecurity and overnight staffing models. Moderators Partick Norton and Jim Toes will preside over Diwa Cody (Jane Street), Nat Evarts (State Street), Jiyoung Jung (Samsung), Todd Lard (Schwab), Chuck Mack (Nasdaq), Steve Sosnick (Interactive Brokers), Brian Steele (DTCC), David Taylor (Exegy) and Quito Zuba (MEMX).

Panel Three, beginning at 2:45 p.m., will discuss expected impacts on liquidity, capital formation and future regulatory steps. Peggy Sullivan and Adrian Griffiths will moderate a discussion featuring Cromwell Coulson (OTC Markets Group), Brian Fagen (BNP Paribas), Dmitri Galinov (24X), Will Geyer (Invesco), Michael Harrington (Citadel Securities), Naureen Hassan (DriveWealth), Brian Hyndman (Blue Ocean), Michael Masone (Citi) and Tim Quast (ModernIR). The program concludes at 4 p.m.
