Treasury Extends Fraud.gov Tip Intake Form, Seeks Public Comment
The Treasury invites individuals and households to comment by Dec. 21, 2026 on the extension of the Fraud.gov tip intake and referral form, covering an estimated 80,000 annual respondents.

The Department of the Treasury's Departmental Offices have issued a notice of information collection (FR Doc No. 2026-21578) announcing an extension, without change, of the Fraud.gov Tip Intake and Referral Form (OMB Control Number 1505-0284). The agency is requesting public and inter-agency comment on the collection in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.
The form supports a government-wide portal that enables members of the public to report suspected waste, fraud, abuse, improper payments, misuse of Federal funds, and related misconduct affecting Federal programs. The collection implements Executive Order 14249, "Protecting America's Bank Account Against Fraud, Waste, and Abuse," and Executive Order 14395, "Establishing the Task Force To Eliminate Fraud." Treasury will use the information to receive, review, triage, categorize, de-duplicate, and refer allegations to the appropriate Federal agency, inspector general, law-enforcement organization, or other authorized entity.
Respondents provide a narrative description, supporting documentation, and contact information through the Fraud.gov tip intake form. An artificial-intelligence tool initially processes the entry, populates standardized fields, and suggests routing recommendations, which respondents may review and edit before submission. Treasury personnel then apply review and quality-control procedures prior to referral.
The notice estimates 80,000 respondents, each completing the form once for an average of 30 minutes, resulting in 40,000 total annual burden hours. Comments are invited on the necessity, utility, accuracy of the burden estimate, quality of the information, and ways to minimize respondent burden, including technology use.
Written comments must be received on or before December 21, 2026. Submissions should be directed to the Treasury PRA Clearance Officer at 1500 Suite #8100, JBAB, 250 Murray Lane SW, BLDG 410/Door 123, Washington, DC 20222, or via the provided email address. Copies of the submission may be obtained from Spencer W. Clark.
