IRS extends Trump Account Election information collection
The extension applies to individuals, households, businesses and for-profit organizations, with comments due by Dec. 7, 2026.

The Internal Revenue Service issued a notice (FR Doc No: 2026-20538) extending the currently approved information collection for Trump Account Election(s) under OMB Control No. 1545-2336. The agency states there is no change to the previously approved collection.
The collection requires filing Form 4547 and Form 8879-TA to make elections for the $1,000 pilot program contribution authorized by Section 530A of the Internal Revenue Code, added by Public Law 119-21 (the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act). The temporary regulations cited are 1.530A-1T and 7T.
The IRS estimates 148,498,585 responses, each taking 2 hours, 5 minutes, for a total annual burden of 71,188,310 hours. Under the Paperwork Reduction Act, the agency invites comments on the necessity, burden accuracy, quality, clarity, and ways to reduce respondent burden, including automated collection techniques.
