Treasury renews OMB control number for Money Services Business registration

The renewal applies to for-profit money services businesses and requires comments by Sept. 21, 2026.

The Department of the Treasury's Departmental Offices will submit an information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget to renew OMB control number 1506-0013 for the registration of Money Services Businesses (RMSB) under 31 CFR 1022.380 and FinCEN Form 107 - RMSB. The renewal is an extension without change of the currently approved collection.

Comments on the proposed collection must be received on or before September 21, 2026. Submissions are to be made within 30 days of publication through the RegInfo.gov portal by selecting "Currently under 30-day Review - Open for Public Comments." Spencer W. The collection targets business or other for-profit institutions that operate as MSBs. FinCEN estimates 24,856 potential respondents, defined as MSBs with at least one registration filing in the most recent three calendar years, and an expected 17,997 annual respondents on average.

Burden estimates are detailed in Table 1 of the notice. Initial registration requires 1.07 hours per respondent for 4,093 respondents, totaling 4,398.6 hours and $548,507 in cost. Renewals and re-registrations require 0.82 hours per respondent for 8,011 respondents, totaling 6,541.6 hours and $815,928. Maintaining an agent list requires 0.50 hours per respondent for 6,214 respondents, totaling 3,107.0 hours and $387,691. The aggregate annual burden is 14,047.2 hours and $1,752,126.
