Cboe EDGX fixes free-trial data window to July-Dec 2022
The exchange's free-trial Open-Close Data products will now provide a uniform July 1-Dec 31 2022 dataset to all requesting participants, effective immediately upon filing.

On August 7, 2026, Cboe EDGX Exchange, Inc. filed a proposed rule change with the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Commission published a notice of filing and immediate effectiveness on August 17, 2026 (FR Doc No 2026-16950, Release No 34-106148, File No SR-CboeEDGX-2026-052, Federal Register Volume 91, No. 160, pages 53909-53911).
The exchange currently offers End-of-Day, Ten-Minute Interval Intraday, and One-Minute Interval Intraday Open-Close Data products with a free-trial provision that lets each participant select any six-month window of historical data. The proposed amendment would replace that variable selection with a fixed, uniform six-month window covering July 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 for all three products.
According to the filing, the uniform window simplifies administration, ensures that every prospective subscriber receives identical sample data, and promotes non-discriminatory access while preserving the six-month trial duration. The exchange states that the change does not alter the fees assessed for the underlying data products; it only modifies the mechanism by which the sample is provided.
The exchange cites Section 19(b)(1) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, Rule 19b-4, and Section 6(b) of the Act - including the requirements of Sections 6(b)(4) and 6(b)(5) - as the statutory basis for the amendment, asserting that the change aligns with the Act's goals of preventing fraud, promoting equitable trade, and ensuring fair allocation of fees.
The Commission is soliciting comments on the proposal from interested persons, and the rule change is slated to become effective immediately upon filing, subject to the comment period.
