Cboe Exchange fixes free trial window for Open-Close Data products
All participants requesting a free trial of Cboe's End-of-Day, Ten-Minute or One-Minute Open-Close Data will receive a fixed July-Dec 2022 dataset effective immediately.

On August 14, 2026, Cboe Exchange, Inc. filed a proposed rule change (File No. SR-CBOE-2026-073; Release No. 34-106146) with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The Commission published a notice of filing and immediate effectiveness on August 17, 2026, inviting comment from interested persons.
The amendment revises the free-trial provisions for three Open-Close Data products - End-of-Day (EOD) Open-Close Data, Ten-Minute Interval Intraday Open-Close Data, and One-Minute Interval Intraday Open-Close Data. The current participant-selected six-month historical data window is replaced with a fixed, uniform time range of July 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 for all three products.
Cboe states the change preserves the six-month sample period while simplifying administration and ensuring that every requesting participant receives an identical dataset. The Exchange argues that a uniform sample promotes consistency, non-discriminatory access, and easier management of the free-trial offering.
The Exchange cites authority under Section 19(b)(1) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 19b-4, and asserts that the amendment aligns with Section 6(b)(5) and Section 6(b)(4) of the Act, which require rules to prevent unfair discrimination and to allocate reasonable fees equitably among market participants.
Although the rule change takes effect immediately upon filing, the notice also serves to solicit public comment on the proposed amendment. The earlier filing (SR-CBOE-2026-069) was withdrawn on August 14, 2026, and superseded by the present proposal.
