FDIC seeks comments on renewal of Summary of Deposits data collection
All FDIC-insured depository institutions must file the annual Summary of Deposits survey; comments are due by Sept. 21, 2026.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation published a notice (FR Doc No. 2026-14821) proposing renewal of the Summary of Deposits information collection (OMB Control No. 3064-0061) and soliciting public comment through September 21, 2026.
The collection, titled "Summary of Deposits," is an annual survey of branch office deposits as of June 30 for every FDIC-insured institution, including U.S. branches of foreign banks. Respondents must file the SOD Survey if they operate a main office and one or more branch locations, including limited-service drive-thru sites. The FDIC states there is no change in the substance or methodology of the survey.
The agency estimates 3,651 respondents, each submitting one response that takes an average of 03:00 minutes, resulting in a total annual burden of 10,953 hours. The notice indicates the burden change reflects a decrease of 657 estimated respondents, from 11,610 annual respondents in the previously approved collection to the current estimate of 10,953.
Comments are invited on the necessity and utility of the collection, the accuracy of the burden estimates, ways to improve data quality and clarity, and methods to reduce respondent burden, including automated collection techniques. Submissions may be made via the FDIC website, email, mail to Robert Meiers, Regulatory Counsel, or hand-delivery to the agency's guard station.
