President Extends Brazil National Emergency for One Year
The continuation applies to all U.S. persons and entities subject to the Brazil emergency, effective after July 30, 2026.

On July 28, 2026 the President issued a notice continuing the national emergency with respect to Brazil. The emergency, originally declared by Executive Order 14323 on July 30, 2025, is extended for 1 year.
The continuation is made under the authority of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) and in accordance with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)). The notice states that the emergency must remain in effect beyond July 30, 2026.
The President cites ongoing activities that constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat, including the Brazil Supreme Court's censorship and imprisonment of individuals exercising free expression, censorship of online content, interference with the U.S. economy, infringement on the free expression rights of United States persons, violations of human rights, and political persecution of a former President of Brazil, his family, and his followers. These actions are described as contributing to a deliberate breakdown in the rule of law in Brazil.
All measures and restrictions imposed by Executive Order 14323 continue for the additional year. The notice is filed as FR Doc 2026-15389, was filed at 11:15 am, and shall be published in the Federal Register and transmitted to the Congress.
