Treasury adds OpenCorporates dataset to Do Not Pay Working System
The U.S. legal entity dataset from OpenCorporates is now subject to Treasury's payment-prevention controls, effective immediately.

The Department of the Treasury has designated the U.S. legal entity dataset maintained by OpenCorporates Limited for inclusion in the Do Not Pay Working System. The designation makes the dataset subject to the system's mechanisms for preventing improper payments.
The action is taken under the authority granted by 31 U.S.C. § 3354(b)(2), which allows the Secretary of the Treasury, delegated by the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, to add databases that substantially assist in preventing improper payments. The notice is filed under Docket ID No. TREAS-DO-2026-0430 and FR Doc No. 2026-16800.
Treasury first announced the proposed designation on June 25, 2026, inviting public comment for 15 days. No comments were received, and the agency concluded that the OpenCorporates dataset - comprising publicly available business registration information from official U.S. state and territory registries - meets the statutory criteria. The agency therefore proceeded with the designation, which takes effect immediately.
